Important Dates
for 2026 Primary Voters
REGISTER TO VOTE FOR JUNE 9 PRIMARIES
by mail, online or voter registration drive: by May 19
through BMV: by June 2
in person: through and including Election Day, June 9
Last day to change party enrollment for previously registered voters: May 21.
HOW AND WHEN TO VOTE:
In person on Election Day, June 9: polls close at 8pm.
In person early voting begins May 11 and ends June 4; call your town office or city hall for hours.
Absentee ballots are available now through June 4; request one in person, by phone, online or by mail. Absentee ballots may be dropped off in person, placed in official drop box, or mailed. All absentee ballots are due by close of voting on Election Day regardless of postmark.
VOTING IN SEMI-OPEN PRIMARY:
If you are enrolled in the Democratic Party, you vote in the Democratic Primary.
If you are enrolled in the Republican Party, you vote in the Republican Primary.
If you are enrolled in either the Green Independent Party or the Libertarian Party, there is no primary.
If you are not enrolled in any party, you may choose which primary you want to vote in.
The check-in clerk will record your choice (for ballot count audit purposes).
